OpenCellID collect cells with your mobile.png

This page lists a number of smartphone apps that allow contributing GSM cell tower measurements to the OpenCellID database.

Android smartphone apps

It is designed to help map the extent of mobile phone network coverage.
It is also possible to collect measurements for private purposes and export them to CSV or GPX files.
It has 6 built-in specially optimized GPS modes to reduce battery usage and provide high quality of data. The app is designed to be simple, lightweight and to use device low resources.

It works ONLY on the GSM and UMTS based networks, doesn't support CDMA!

Firefox smartphone apps

The app will also, optionally, upload this information to OpenCellID.org, Mozilla Location Services and/or a custom URL.

Checkin Checkin-mainscreen.png This is an open web app, targetted at Firefox OS and tested initially on the Geeksphone Peak, that enables simple checking to nearby locations on Foursquare.

It does not attempt to be a complete Foursquare application: you can't enter new venues, you can't "explore" or see where your friends are. You can checkin. That's it.

The app can use your GPS, Mozilla Location Services, or OpenCellID as the geolocation source.

Windows Phone smartphone apps

According to this and to this Stackoverflow information it is not possible to read MCC/MNC information on Windows phones.

Therefore it is not possible with Windows Phones to contribute to OpenCellID.
