Opencellid statistics locations of cells.PNG

cell-id map

OpenCellID menu complete.png
OpenCellID GPS positions of GSM base stations.png Menu map view GPS positions of GSM base stations.png This filter option allows to see all known cell towers of a particular mobile phone network operator.

MCC
Please enter here the Mobile Country Code.
The MCC defines the country where the network is located

MNC
Please enter here the Mobile Network Code.
The MNC defines the network inside the country defined by MCC

If you leave the MCC parameter empty and just define the MNC parameter, then you will get all networks world wide with the selected network number.

If you leave the MNC parameter empty and just define the MCC parameter, then you will get all cells of all networks in the selected country.
Please note, that such cells might be seen up to 34 km in the neighbouring country.

OpenCellID newly found base stations.png Menu map view newly found base stations.png Show newly found base stations with the following filtering options:

date from
all newly found base stations will be shown found since this day 0:00:00 UTC time; if this field is left empty, then today 0:00:00 will be chosen as default.

date to
all newly found base stations will be shown found until this day 23:59:29 UTC time; if this field is left empty, then today 23:59:59 will be chosen as default.

MCC
If selected only cells will be shown of the selected country.

MNC
If selected only cells will be shown of networks with the selected Mobile Country Code.

OpenCellID recently uploaded measurements.png Menu map view recently uploaded measurements.png Show recently uploaded measurements:

time in hours (max 24h)
Please enter here the number of hours from this moment in the past to be used for selecting the measurements to be shown on the map.

The maximum time frame is 24 hours.

The time frame is selected from the current time the given number of hours to the past.
??? Chris: full hours or really exact x hours ???

OpenCellID measurements of a selected GSM base station.png Menu map view measurements of a selected GSM base station.png Show measurements of a selected GSM base station

MCC
Please enter here the Mobile Country Code.
The MCC defines the country where the network is located

MNC
Please enter here the Mobile Network Code.
The MNC defines the network inside the country defined by MCC

LAC
Please enter here the Location Area Code.
The LAC defines a group of base stations belonging regionally together.

cell-id
Please enter here the cell-id.
The cell-id defines the number of the cell of which you want to see the data.

All four entry fields are obligatory. If at least one field is left empty, no data is shown.

Maximum Chris ???? thousand measurements are shown due to restrictions of the currently available web browsers.

heat map

Menu heat map.png
OpenCellID daily heat map.png This menu option allows to to display the latest heat map.

The heat map indicates the density of unique base stations world wide.

  • Red areas have a high density of known cell towers.
  • Yellow areas have a reasonable density of known cell towers.
  • Blue and green areas have a low density of known cell towers.
  • For areas which are not coloured so far no cell towers have been recorded.

A new heat map is generated every 24 hours around 4:00 am UTC.

OpenCelID heat map movie.png The heat map movie is a movie showing a series of heat maps generated every 15 days from the very beginning of the OpenCellID project until today.

This heat map move provides a good impression how the database has been growing over time in which region.

It is not possible to zoom into the heat map or into the heat map movie.

statistics cells

Menu statistics cells.png
OpenCellID statistics cells.png This option allows to generate a real time bar chart assorted by the number of cells.

The following sorting criteria can be used for the bar chart:

sorted by the total
shows the total number of cells per country stored in the database;
the countries are sorted descending by the total of cells per country

sorted by country name
shows the total number of cells per country stored in the database;
the countries are sorted alphabetically ascending by country name

sorted by MCC
shows the total number of cells per country stored in the database;
the countries are sorted ascending by MCC

new cells per day
shows the number of first time found cells per calender day;
the calender days are sorted descending (latest date on the left side of the bar chart)

The following filter criteria can be used for the bar chart:

date from
all newly found base stations will be used for the bar chart found after this day 0:00:00 UTC time;
if this field is left empty, then today 0:00:00 will be chosen as default

date to
all newly found base stations will be used for the bar chart that were found until the specified day 23:59:29 UTC time;
if this field is left empty, then today 23:59:59 will be chosen as default

MCC
if selected only cells will be shown of the selected country.

MNC
if selected only cells will be shown of networks with the selected Mobile Country Code

statistics measurements

Menu statistics measurements.png
OpenCellID statistics measurements.png This option allows to generate a real time bar chart assorted by the number of measurements.

The following sorting criteria can be used for the bar chart:

sorted by the total
shows the total number of measurements per country stored in the database;
the countries are sorted descending by the total of measurements per country

sorted by country name
shows the total number of measurements per country stored in the database;
the countries are sorted alphabetically ascending by country name

sorted by MCC
shows the total number of measurements per country stored in the database;
the countries are sorted ascending by MCC

new measurements per day
shows the number of newly added measurements per calender day;
the calender days are sorted descending (latest date on the left side of the bar chart)

The following filter criteria can be used for the bar chart:

date from
all measurements added to the database after this day 0:00:00 UTC time will be used for the bar chart;
if this field is left empty, then today 0:00:00 will be chosen as default

date to
all measurements added to the database before this day 23:59:29 UTC time will be used for the bar chart;
if this field is left empty, then today 23:59:59 will be chosen as default

MCC
if selected only measurements will be shown of the selected country.

MNC
if selected only measurements will be shown of networks with the selected Mobile Country Code

search location

Menu search location GPS location.png
OpenCellID GPS location.png Menu map view GPS positions of GSM base stations.png This menu option allows entering a GPS coordinate, consisting of a latitude and a longitude value.

This position will then be shown on the map, indicated by a special pushpin icon.

Both input fields are obligatory.
