Features to be implemented asap

Many plans exist, to further enhance the current OpenCellID functionality.
This page lists some of the features that are planned to be implemented as soon as possible.

Database cleanup

Currently quite a few measurements exist in the database which are obviously wrong, for example measurements far outside the home country given by the MCC. We are currently preparing a script for cleaning up the database.

Due to the complexity of this task this will take a few months to be completed.

Backend functionality

• provide filters and statistics for personally contributed data
• improve map display features

API

• Add field "data_source" to various API calls

Support of WiFi base stations

• It is planned to record WiFi base stations similar to cell-ids

Gamification

• Provide scoring lists, a leaderboard etc. for motivating as many as possible people to contribute to OpenCellID
